Buying your first painting is often an emotional decision.
You see something, respond to it immediately, and that’s enough. There’s very little hesitation. It either works, or it doesn’t.
The second can feel different.
There’s a moment that catches people out.
You bring a painting home. You unwrap it. You lean it against a wall and step back to look at it properly.
And then comes the question. Where does it actually go?
It’s one of those phrases that appears often, but rarely gets explained.
You’ll see “French School” in catalogues, on gallery websites, and in auction listings. It sounds authoritative. Slightly formal. But also a little vague.
And that’s because it is.
