“The Badminton Player” French School, 1800-1899 oil painting on canvas, framed painting: 24 x 14 inches framed: 28.5 x 18.5 inches Very rare early portrayal of a young badminton player. This fine portrait is of French authorship and dates to the mid 1800-1899. The young player is depicted standing in a sunset landscape holding a racket, whilst the shuttlecock lays on the floor. Early sporting paintings of this nature rarely come on the market and it is a delight to see. Condition report: The painting is in very good condition, having been relined and restored to a good standard. The frame has a couple of small chips of damage to the plaster.
