Sir Anthony van Dyck was a Flemish Baroque artist born on March 22, 1599, in Antwerp, which is now part of modern-day Belgium. He passed away on December 9, 1641, in London, England. Van Dyck is renowned for his portraits of European aristocracy, particularly for his work as the leading court painter in England under King Charles I.
