A finely detailed original chromolithograph depicting the celebrated Foxhound ‘Archer’, published in Cassell’s Illustrated Book of the Dog circa 1880. Shown standing proudly in an open countryside landscape, the hound is rendered with remarkable attention to its muscular form, distinctive markings and alert sporting stance. The rich colours and delicate detail are characteristic of the high-quality chromolithographic printing process used in the late Victorian period.
Beautifully presented within a burr walnut veneered frame and mounted beneath glass, this attractive sporting print would make an excellent addition to any collection of canine art, hunting memorabilia or Victorian natural history illustrations. It is equally well suited to a country house, library or sporting interior.
