French Mid 1900-1999 Lady in a Striped Bathing Suit and Sunhat

French School, mid century The Bathing Suit unsigned watercolour painting with gouache, on paper (two-layers affixed together), unframed sheet: 18 x 14 inches Eye catching painting with all the heat of a high summer beach scene. It came to us as part of a collection of very good quality art in Paris. It is unsigned, as were the others, but the quality of the image is superb. Dating to roughly the 1950’s based on the rest of the collection. The photograph of the back shows a thin second paper sheet attached to the back of the actual sheet this is painted onto. condition report: Some of the red paint of her bathing costume is powdery so does leave a residue on your skins when it is handled, therefore it does need framing under glass. Good strong colour. One tony tear to left side of sheet approximately halfway down the left side, only around three-tenths of an inch and would be framed off in any case.
