White Roses in a Glass Stem Vase
by Henri Miloch (1898-1979)
signed lower left
watercolour painting on artist’s paper, unframed
sheet: 13.5 x 9.75 inches
Very pretty still life painting by the highly regarded painter, Henri Miloch. Signed to the front. This work forms part of a collection we currently hold by Miloch. This one is undated but the body of work we have by this artist was dated in some cases, with this style from the later part of the 1940’s.
Henri Miloch was born in Trieste (Italy) in 1898 but studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a member of the Society of French Artists. His life and work was very much centred in Brittany, in north west France, much of his work portrays Breton maritime life in the various ports, and local town observations, especially in the Concarneau area where he worked and exhibited for much of his artistic career. From 1959 he also had a workshop in Tours (Val de Loire).
condition report:
The painting has no tears or creases, image colour is good. Edges of sheet have no damage but there are tiny pinholes to the edges and corners where the artist had the sheet pinned to a board whilst he painted the image.
