Description
A large French contemporary abstract Cubist mixed media painting by Rene Leroy, signed lower right. The composition is built from layered passages of oil paint, applied material, patterned fabric, paper fragments and textured surface work. Pale blue, cream and white form the main ground, with accents of purple, red, ochre, black and floral fabric giving the piece a loose, collage-like rhythm.
Framed and measuring 24 x 29 inches overall, the painting has a generous horizontal format without feeling visually heavy. It would work well above a console, sideboard, bed, desk or low piece of furniture, particularly in a sitting room, hallway, bedroom or creative workspace. The pale palette makes it easy to place, while the textile and collage elements bring enough detail to stop the piece feeling too quiet.
There is a thoughtful, collected quality to this work. It has the softness of a pale abstract painting, but with a more tactile and individual surface. The mixture of fabric, paper and paint gives it a distinctly contemporary French character, suited to interiors that combine texture, pattern and restrained colour rather than relying on obvious statement pieces. Its studio provenance adds a clear line of ownership.
