Description
A large colourful abstract figurative oil painting, understood to be of Dominican Republic authorship. The composition is filled with repeated market figures carrying baskets, produce and bundles, arranged in a lively all-over pattern. Strong reds, greens, yellows, blues and black outlines sit against a pale ground, giving the painting a bright graphic quality with a strong sense of rhythm and movement.

At 36 x 26 inches, this is a generous vertical piece for a hallway, kitchen, dining room, sitting room or creative workspace. It would work particularly well in an interior that can take colour and pattern, either against clean white walls or alongside rattan, ceramics, painted furniture and natural textures. The scale gives it presence, while the repeated figure pattern keeps the surface busy and full of life.

The appeal is in its energy and character. It has the feel of a painting chosen for warmth, pattern and cultural texture rather than quiet background decoration. With its German private collection provenance and Caribbean attribution, it brings a distinctive, collected note to a room, especially for someone drawn to modern folk-inflected abstraction and vivid figurative painting.
