Description
A bold, materially driven abstract composed of horizontal bands of colour layered with heavy texture. Deep green, ochre, rust and charcoal tones are built up across the surface, with areas of impasto and roughened ground giving the work a tactile, almost architectural quality. The composition is simple in structure but rich in surface detail, with subtle variations in tone and edge creating movement within each block of colour.
Its scale gives it presence, making it well suited to a larger wall where texture can be appreciated at a distance as well as up close. It works particularly well in more contemporary or pared-back interiors, where natural materials such as wood, stone and linen allow the surface to sit comfortably. The earthy palette also lends itself to spaces that favour warmth and depth over sharper contrast.
There is a quiet confidence in the restraint of the composition. Paintings like this tend to anchor a room without dictating it, becoming part of the overall atmosphere rather than a focal point alone. It reflects a more considered approach to abstraction, where surface and balance take precedence over overt gesture.
