Description
A compact abstract study built from softly defined, interlocking forms in green, cream and muted grey. The composition is structured through gently outlined shapes, with darker charcoal tones creating separation and depth between each section. The surface retains a painterly softness, with subtle variations in tone and texture allowing the forms to shift quietly across the picture plane.
Its smaller scale makes it well suited to more intimate spaces or as part of a grouped arrangement. It works particularly well alongside similar works, where variations in tone and composition can be appreciated together. The restrained palette allows it to sit easily within neutral interiors, adding depth without drawing focus away from the wider setting.
There is a quiet balance to the way the composition is handled. Paintings like this tend to reward close viewing, offering a more subtle presence that develops over time. It reflects a thoughtful approach to abstraction, where form and tone are carefully considered without becoming overly fixed.
Artist Note
Yvette Dubois-Habasque worked from her Paris studio, developing a body of abstract work that often drew on landscape and natural forms without directly representing them. Her paintings are valued for their restrained palette and intuitive sense of balance, making them particularly suited to more considered, layered interiors.
