The painting has impeccable provenance – having come from the artists studio and estate in France. It has not had any former owners (except us and the artists family) – this is an ideal opportunity to acquire such a work with unbeatable provenance. Born in Hungary in 1911, Akos Biro is very much thought of as a French painter, due to the he lived and worked in France for most of his professional life – firstly with studios in Montparnasse and Montmartre before he discovered the warmth and light of Provence, where he moved permanently to in the 1970’s. He died in Mougins in the South of France in 2002. He studied at the Budapest Academy of Arts and Rome Art School. Amongst his many exhibitions throughout France, he had several solo exhibitions in Central Europe, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Montreal, New York, Cannes, Paris. Wonderful pastel oil painting, large size and full of colour. This painting focuses on a main central figure, who stands forefront in a platte of tranquil greens, whilst the other two characters are in shadow. This is a fabulous painting to hang in a hallway or large eclectic living area. The colours used are an unusual colour combination but hugely complimentary, mainly consisting of pinks, yellow, blue and green. Condition report: The painting and frame are both in a very pleasing condition.
