Description
A fresh Scottish Highland river landscape by contemporary British artist Barry Peckham, painted in oil on board. The composition follows a sunlit stream as it winds through open moorland towards distant hills, with loose, confident brushwork capturing the movement of water, shifting cloud and soft Highland light. The palette is natural and atmospheric, with blue, violet, heather brown and pale green tones giving the scene a clear sense of place.

At 16 x 20.75 inches framed, this is an easy and versatile size for a sitting room, study, hallway, bedroom or country interior. The light across the water gives the painting lift, while the cooler hill tones keep it calm and grounded. It would sit particularly well with natural wood, warm neutrals, traditional furniture or a layered scheme of British landscapes and sporting pictures.

There is an appealing directness to Peckham’s handling here, with the landscape painted in a lively, observed manner rather than overworked detail. It has the quiet charm of a contemporary Highland view, bringing movement, atmosphere and a collected country-house note to a room.
