1890’s French Impressionist Oil Painting Lady Walking Country Landscape Fields

The work is most likely an en plein air work, executed in situ by the artist simply capturing the moment before him. A lone figure makes her way along the country path, through the pollarded trees, with an unfolding landscape in the distance. The work carries a very tranquil and calm effect, with its soft shades of greens and pastel pink tones coming through the landscape. The painting has a slightly ‘sketchy’ unfinished feel, as is common with en plein studies. This can sometimes account for the lack of a signature as well. The artist is unknown – certainly of French authorship – and clearly inspired and influence by the French Impressionists of the period; Pissarro in particular. Condition: the canvas has been relined and is in very good condition indeed. Well framed in a suitable swept example which compliments the painting very well.
