Stunning and very large French Post-Impressionist oil painting depicting this beautifully colourful view of a church – bursting with vibrant “fauvist” colours that surely were inspired by Matisse. Beautifully thick impasto paint and wide brushwork. The work is by the contemporary French artist, Jean-Marie Deroche (born 1956) who is well represented in many prestigious galleries throughout France and commands serious sums.The painting is signed and titled verso, as well as being dated 1986.
