Victorian Signed Oil Painting Fishing Boats in Choppy Seas off Old Harbour

Off the Harbour by William Henry Williamson (British 1820-1883) signed and dated 1874 oil painting on canvas, framed canvas: 12 x 18 inches framed: 22 x 28 inches condition: very good and presentable provenance: private collection, England Superb Victorian marine oil painting, depicting fishing boats in choppy seas off a coastline and old fishing harbour. It looks as though the storm clouds have moved on and so the boats are heading out to sea. The painting is by William Henry Williamson (1820-1883) and beautifully presented in this ornate swept frame. Williamson was a gifted, London painter of coastal scenes, particularly of the south coast. He exhibited at Suffolk Street, the British Institute and the Royal Academy from 1853-75. One of the titles at the RA was ‘Off the Coast of Kent’.
