The market stall holders look like they are selling chickens or some type of fowl. This is a lovely portrayal of a traditional local market. Typical of the Impressionist movement, the work combines wonderful colours and rapid, thick brushwork. Signed by the artist to the lower right. The pink and purple of the canopy stand out amongst the darker city tones. Beautiful colour palette. Condition report: The painting is in lovely condition, there is some age related scuff on the frame corner, please see the images.
