A finely detailed original chromolithograph depicting a group of Fox Terriers, published in Cassell’s Illustrated Book of the Dog circa 1880. Three fine examples of the breed are shown standing together within a picturesque rural landscape, their alert expressions, athletic build and distinctive coats captured with exceptional accuracy. The rich colouring and delicate tonal modelling are characteristic of the high-quality chromolithographic printing techniques employed during the late Victorian period.
Beautifully presented within a burr walnut veneered frame and mounted beneath glass, this decorative sporting print would make an excellent addition to a collection of canine art, Victorian natural history illustrations or country house interiors. The distinguished provenance, having formerly belonged to British businessman Sir Graham Wylie, further enhances its appeal.
